First and foremost, I'd like to thank all of those who showed up for supporting this fundraising event and a special thanks to all those who volunteered to wrestle!!! This couldn't have happened without you guys.
I don't know where this crazy idea originated, but I must admit that I've been fascinated by mud wrestling for a number of years now. Unfortunately I never had people who would be willing to participate. And yet somehow, one drunken evening after our wine and cheese, when the idea somehow came up, everyone seemed super excited about it. I think most of you doubted whether I'd actually pull it off, but so long as there were people interested in it, there was never a doubt in my mind.
It fell through in November (and thank god - otherwise we probably would have frozen to death). But it did happen in March, largely thanks to our landlord allowing us to hold it in our backyard.
So yeah... the night was a blast. We had a number of wrestlers bail on us, but that didn't decrease the fun that we had. Liz and I, as the only girls participating, did our best to entertain the mainly male crowd and having the first match of the night, we set the ball in motion.
The mud may not have been the best, nor the slipperiest (wasn't slippery at all), but it sure was dirty. All in all the matches turned out great, with plenty of mud slinging, Liz shoving a handful of it in my mouth, flinging it at the spectators, Jay throwing us around like rag dolls, and me getting both Ben and Trev into headlocks. A bit of everything - and can't forget the first class matches between the guys.
As a party the night was a huge success! Definitively worth repeating next year - hopefully with better mud and with more contestants. As a fundraiser - well, maybe a bit less successful (raised $140), but nevertheless it brings me a step closer to my goal and that's truly appreciated. Plus it was worth all the work and all the cleaning - and the pictures just make it so much better...
Enjoy!

The night prior to the wrestling tournament, we asked a couple guys to come over and help us move the trampoline as well as get some other stuff ready... well... and this is the help we got. While Liz and I were outside climbing trees and hooking up all the tarps, laying everything out, and preparing the pool, the guys were relaxing on our couch and ordering pizza. Thanx!
